Thompsons are one of Ireland's most renowned and respected Funeral Directors who have been serving the needs of Waterford City and County for over 225 years. We are founder members of the Irish Association of Funeral Directors and John Thompson is a past President of the Association.

We have a reputation for providing a professional, high quality service and many of our client families have been seeking our services for generations. We conduct our business in a sensitive, dignified and efficient manner, allowing peace of mind to bereaved families.

We conduct funerals for all religious denominations and provide a complete repatriation service. Always at the forefront of the Funeral Industry, in 2011 Thompson's became the first Funeral Directors in the World to launch a dedicated iPhone app and in 2013 became the first Funeral Director in Ireland, and one of the few in the World, to acheive the ISO9001:2008 Quality Management Standard.

Kitty Browne nee Barry, Marian Park, Waterford City, who died on Friday 22nd September, 2017. Reposing in Thompson’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, on Saturday from 6pm until 7pm with prayers at 6.30pm. Removal from Thompson's Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Waterford, on Sunday, Sept. 24th, at 11.00oc to Ballybricken Church for Requiem Mass on arrival at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Johnny Horan

Mr. Johnny Horan, Lower Yellow Road, Waterford, who died on Friday, 15th September, 2017. Removal from Thompson's Funeral Home, Barrack Street, on Monday at 7.45pm to the Holy Family Church. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St. Otteran's Cemetery.

Kenneth Prendergast

Kenneth Prendergast, 35 Closegate, Castle Street, Waterford, who died on Saturday, 16th September, 2017. Reposing at his residence on Monday from 4pm until 9pm. House private at all other times please. Funeral arriving to the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, on Tuesday for Requiem Mass at 1pm. Burial afterwards in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ballygunner. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Waterford Hospice.

Tess Kent

Mrs. Tess Kent nee Gleeson, Faithlegg, Halfway House, Co. Waterford, who died on Thursday 21st September, 2017. Reposing at Havenwood Retirement Village on Saturday from 4pm followed by removal at 5.15pm to Faithlegg Church. Funeral Mass on Sunday at 12.30pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to the South East Simon Community.
